Any operator has tariffs for outgoing calls. There are different costs for calls to different countries. Moreover, our operator receives a part of the cost of incoming calls / SMS and is interested in more incoming calls to his numbers. Telesens TTM product — Traffic Trade Management — significantly increases the operator’s profit from traffic trading by automating analysis and sharply increasing the speed of decision-making in this dynamic area.
Traffic trading is similar to any other trade — buy as cheap as possible and sell with a planned profit. It sounds simple enough, but the peculiarity of this business area is a huge variety of options for the cost of “commodities” — call directions — and the daily directions cost changes from different suppliers. The number of directions does not look too large. It is determined by the number of countries in the world, the number of operators in these countries, and sometimes the tariff policy of these operators. It allows you to give different prices to different segments of the operator’s network.
However, over the past few years, tariffs have become much more complicated, in parallel with the simple “direction — cost” tariff. Various discount models have appeared, depending on the volume of traffic for direction, time of day, and even the number from which the call is made. All these facts indicate that it is completely ineffective to process constantly updated price lists by hands (or with minimal automation). Besides, it is almost impossible to get the planned level of profit.
The main modules of the system are price list loading module, commercial routing, technical routing, and generation of operator price lists. Also, a number of auxiliary systems are also a part of the solution— a report generator, activity and event logs, etc. We will consider the main ones.
PLLM — price list loading module — solves two main tasks. Firstly, to bring various formats of price lists to a single model that allows direct comparisons of various offers. Secondly, to update cost data in billing and traffic management systems as quickly as possible.
The commercial routing module compares and analyzes the offers processed by the download module to select the currently optimal routing options for each direction. The algorithms use complex models that take into account, in addition to the cost, various parameters taken from the offers provided by suppliers, and processed by the PLLM. The result of the module’s work is recommendations for changing traffic routing, which helps responsible employees quickly make decisions about adjusting routing.
The technical routing module is a continuation of the commercial routing module. It allows leaving only the function of control on employees. The functionality allows you to change routing on switchboards in real-time, minimizing the time from the entry of a new price list to making changes to call routing. The module works with switchboards of most major vendors, and the qualifications and experience of our developers allow us to configure interaction with any device at the implementation stage.
Price lists generating module will be useful for transit operators who work not so much with the traffic of their subscribers but are focused on finding and providing other operators with mutually beneficial tariffs for other networks. The importance of a correct analysis of possible options and a quick update of their own price lists increases dramatically for such operators, as does the cost of an error. Therefore, in addition to the obligatory use of technical routing, such operators also use the price list generation module, to generate different price lists on a regular/daily basis, which will be sent to counterparties. Prices are updated to reflect changes in our suppliers’ prices, our changes in routing, and given indicators of profitability. The use of a bundle of four TTM modules allows you to minimize the delay between the entering of information about the change in costs and the correction of your own prices for consumers. In turn, it allows you to maximize the profits from any changes.
Summing up, we would like to note that TTM is the second product in demand in the Telesens Interconnect Business Suite ecosystem after billing. The interest in traffic management among our existing and potential customers is constantly growing year by year.
